Kyrie vs. the Nets

Kyrie Irving truly is LBJ's little NBA brother, because like Lebron he too has developed into a character where if he's on a team that doesn't look like it's going to win a championship, then by all means reports of discontent are going to start circulating.  I don't really like responding to these gossipy matters.  But it's all believable because it's Kyrie we're dealing with.

So now it has become time to play 'imagine where Kyrie would go next'.  Out of the three teams that were mentioned, of course the most notable is the Lakers.  Lebron seems to have started floating the idea of re-teaming with Irving at least a year or two ago, and I think last offseason he like orthrightly expressed a desire to do so.  Recently, Draymond called LBJ something like the smartest basketball player ever, which I'm presuming he means on the court.  Because off the court, I would just say that if it wasn't in the Lakers plan to add someone like Kyrie, they shouldn't do so to appease Lebron.  Because if he does join LAL and they continue to flunk, which is very much possible, it's going to be even more embarrassing on the organization than this past season.

The problem with Kyrie is that he's an undeniable star but at the same time overrated.  And what that means is, #1, if a contending team were to sign him, they would inevitably have to give up quality players in order to afford him.  And the second way Irving affects team chemistry, going back to him being both a star and overrated, is that he's a SG in a PG's body and position.  So it's like you give him the ball and design a play, but if he's sees an opportunity to score, he's going to take it.  And you can't say shit because after all, it's Kyrie Iriving.

As for the Clippers, I don't see any reason they would make major roster modification if it's true that Kawhi is returning.  But I must say that Kyrie playing with Leonard sounds a lot more appealing than him re-teaming with Lebron.  But don't forget Paul George is also on that team, a player who's just like Kyrie, only taller, more injury-prone and arguably more efficient

Lastly, there's the Knicks.  The Knicks are an organization that I like never support a superstar going to, especially one who wants to win.  And part of the reason is because, what exactly is their problem anyway?  They already had a scoring PG in Kemba Walker and even D-Rose when he was healthy.  When you look at NYK's roster, they're one of the deepest teams in the NBA.  But still, they're always underachieving.  So it's like, you know what I mean, try to be appreciative of what you already have type shit (though Carmelo returning would be cool).

Kyrie is one of the best-scoring PGs in NBA history, but he isn't a needle mover imo.  Or let me say that if you really want to capitalize on his strengths you'd build a team around him, kinda like what Philly did with A.I., but not that much.  If you put him on a contending team, what they give up in the process is means that Kyrie's presence is not going to push them over the top.  And if you send him to a mediocre team, they aren't going to instantly become contenders.  So if he does bounce on Brooklyn, I hope he knows what he's doing, you know, like joining his next team for the long haul.

CONCLUSION

This is all really like Ben Simmons fault anyway.  If the Nets were truly confident he would return and be in form, the organization would look a lot more optimistic than it does now.  But as it currently stands if Kyrie were to go, then what incentive is there (to winning) for KD to stay?
